Summerleaze Beach

Home  >  Cornwall  >  Current Beach

Just 5 minutes walk from the centre of Bude, Summerleaze beach is a unique place due to the large breakwater that protects the sands from the power of the Atlantic. It close proximity to the town and the ease of access means that it is very popular with visitors. The crowds are quickly dissipated as the tide drops out and exposes extensive sands in every direction. On the opposite side of the beach is Bude’s Sea Pool – a beautiful tidal pool carved from the rocks. At high tide the Atlantic replenishes the part man-made, part natural lido, providing safe swimming conditions even during the roughest of weather. The smaller bay of Crooklets can be reached at low tide to the northern end of the beach by rounding Wrangle point. Beach huts can be booked on a daily or weekly basis (£10-£20 per day) by contacting Bude’s Tourist Information (01288 354240).

From Bude follow signposts to the beach and park in the large carpark directly on the beach. Disabled access and a sand-chair is available for hire from the Summerleaze Beach Office (01288 352226).
